KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Augsburg College men's cross country team posted its highest team finish since a second place finish back in 2006, claiming second place out of 19 teams at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Lucian Rosa Invitational on Saturday.
The Auggies were led by
Brent Haglund (SR, Fridley, Minn.), who was the second collegiate finisher and third overall finisher, completing the 8,000-meter course in 25:33.8. Next across the line for the Auggies was
Ben Rodriguez (SO, Buffalo, Minn.), who also posted a top-20 finish for Augsburg with a season-best time of 26:45.5.
Shane Wyborny (SR, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and
Victor Sanchez (Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS) finished right behind Rodriguez also posting season-best times of 26:46.3 and 26:47.4 respectively, finishing 21st and 22nd.
Matt Schafer (FY, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) was the fifth runner for the Auggies, finishing in 27:07.1.
Geoffrey Gillmor (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) and
Ryan Norman (FY, North Branch, Minn.) rounded out the top seven for Augsburg, posting times of 27:52.2 and 28:34.6 respectively.
Augsburg returns to action on Saturday (10/17) when they travel to La Crosse, Wis. to take part in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational.
