Men's golf finishes fall at GAC meet

FINAL STATISTICS

RAMSEY, Minn. -- Matt Kowalski (FY, Marinette, Wis.) shot a 2-over-par 74 to finish tied for 20th overall, leading the Augsburg College men's golf team at the weather-shortened Gustavus Adolphus College Twin Cities Classic on Sunday at the Links at Northfork.

The tournament, normally a three-day, 54-hole event, was shortened to a single round on Sunday, after wintry weather forced the cancellation of both Saturday's first round and Monday's final round.

As a team, Augsburg shot a 320 to finish in 20th place in the 22-school, 23-team meet.

Joel Kociemba (JR, Andover, Minn./St. Francis HS) and Zach Johnson (FY, Sartell, Minn.) both shot 80 for the Auggies, while Brian Deuel (SO, Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) shot 86 and Jason Henning (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn.) shot 89. Competing as an individual, Christopher Tobkin (FY, Willmar, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) shot 83.

The competition was the final one of the fall half of the season for Augsburg. The 2009-10 campaign will resume in the spring.
