MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College's Brent Haglund (SR, Fridley, Minn.) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday by the conference office.

Haglund placed third out of 192 runners with a time of 25:33.8 over 8,000 meters at the Lucian Rosa Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis. on Saturday. Haglund led the Auggies to a second-place team finish, their highest team finish since 2006, as he was the second collegiate runner to cross the finish line.

Haglund's time of 25:33.8 was 20 seconds faster than his time at the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational and just 20 seconds shy of his personal-best and school-record time of 25:15.27, which he posted at the 2008 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Invitational.

Haglund and the Auggies return to action on Saturday (10/17) when they travel to La Crosse, Wis. to take part in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational as their final tune-up before the MIAC Championships on Oct. 31 at the Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul, Minn.
