REGIONAL POLL
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College men's cross country team jumped to No. 7 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings, reappearing in the top-ten after a one week absence. The No. 7 ranking represents the highest cross country ranking in school history.
The Auggies finished as the top MIAC team out of eight that participated in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational on Saturday. Four of the Auggies top five runners set personal-best times on the day as the Auggies beat five teams previously ranked in the central region on their way to a 12th place finish. Leading the way for Augsburg was
Brent Haglund (SR, Fridley, Minn.), who cut 10 seconds off his personal-best time, as he set a school record 25:05.6 over the 8,000-meter course
Augsburg is one of five MIAC teams to be ranked in the region. St. Thomas is ranked No. 3, St. Olaf No. 5, St. John's No. 6, Augsburg No. 7 and Hamline No. 8.
The Auggies are idle this week and will return to action on Saturday (10/31) at the MIAC Championships held at the Como Park Golf Course.
