Auggies end year with loss at Bethel

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- Claiming a 530-220 advantage in total offensive yardage, Bethel University closed its season with a 44-6 victory over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football contest on Saturday afternoon at Royal Stadium.

Josh Pronschinske (JR, Fountain City, Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City HS) scored the lone touchdown of the game for the Auggies (4-6 overall, 3-5 MIAC), a six-yard reception from quarterback Marcus Brumm (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) on the Auggies' first drive of the game.

But after that, Bethel (7-3 overall, 6-2 MIAC) scored seven straight touchdowns to pull away. Josh Aakre threw three touchdown passes and put together 254 passing yards in the game, while Logan Flannery, Dusty Wahl and Joel Quick each scored two touchdowns. Flannery rushed 13 times for 120 yards, and Quick caught four passes for 159 yards.

Brumm threw for 189 yards on 21-of-42 passing for the Auggies. Muneer Al-Hameed (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Minneapolis Washburn HS) caught seven passes for 75 yards, and Mike Nourie (SR, Nicollet, Minn.) caught four passes for 55 yards. Pronschinske caught six passes for 40 yards.

Augsburg was forced to punt 10 times in the game, with Jack Christopherson (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) connecting on a 33.2-yard average.

Defensively, Augsburg's Adam Ebert (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) led all players with nine tackles (four solo), forcing two fumbles. Dane Bates (JR, White Bear Lake, Minn.) had eight tackles (three solo) and an interception, and Tyler Judkins (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) and Adam Mead (JR, St. Francis, Minn.) had seven tackles each.

Brumm, a transfer from Division II Minnesota State-Mankato, completed his first season as the Auggies' quarterback with 2,518 passing yards on 50.5-percent (220-of-436) passing. The yardage total is the fourth-most in a single season in school history, while the completion total was fourth-best and attempt total was third-most.

Wide receiver Nourie completed his career with 2,372 receiving yards on 208 receptions, both totals third-most in school history, with 18 career touchdowns. Al-Hameed finished his junior season with 2,257 career receiving yards (fifth-most in school history) on 188 receptions (fourth-most in school history).

Two Auggies finished their careers with 200-plus tackles -- Ebert with 233 and Andrew Bergeson (SR, Red Wing, Minn.) with 218. Mead, a junior, will enter next season with 226 career tackles. Judkins finished his career with 13 interceptions (third-most in school history), and Alex Glasenapp (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) finished his career with 185 tackles, including 24.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks.
