MINNEAPOLIS -- Melissa Kravich (JR, Wilmette, Ill.) scored a three-goal hat trick as part of a five-goal third period, as Lake Forest College claimed a 6-1 victory over host Augsburg College in a nonconference women's hockey game on Sunday afternoon at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
Lake Forest (5-0-1 overall) broke a 1-1 tie with five straight goals in a 11:39 span to pull away from Augsburg (0-4-0 overall). The Foresters outshot Augsburg by a 44-14 margin, including a 17-3 advantage in the third period.
The Auggies' lone goal came from
Sandra Hinz (FY, Stockholm, Sweden/Solna Gymnasium HS), who scored her first collegiate tally on the power play from
Jenna Knudtson (JR, Austin, Minn.) at the 1:57 mark of the third period.
Kim Herring (SO, Dover, N.H.) had a goal and two assists for the Foresters, while Jessica Dare (SO, Whitmore Lake, Mich.) and Jenn Caldwell (FY, Glenview, Ill.) also scored goals. Lynn Switaj (JR, Avon Lake, Ohio) and Angie Chronis (FY, Ann Arbor, Mich.) had two assists each.

Toni Menth (SR, Buffalo, Minn.) had 38 saves, while Brittany Lemke (JR, St. Charles, Ill.) had 13 saves for Lake Forest.
Augsburg opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a series against St. Catherine University. Thursday's (11/19) game is at 7 p.m. at the University of Minnesota's Ridder Arena, while Saturday's (11/21) game is at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
