MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College tight end Josh Pronschinske (JR, Fountain City, Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City HS) was named as a member of the D3football.com All-West Region squad as a third-team selection, it was announced on Thursday.

The All-West Region honor is the first for Pronschinske, who also earned his first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honor earlier this year with selection to the All-MIAC first team.

Pronschinske had a breakout season for the Auggies in 2009, his first season as a starting tight end, with 42 catches for 448 yards and two touchdowns -- the most catches and yardage for an Auggie tight end since Andrew Neumann's 74 catches for 741 yards in 2006. Pronschinske had five games with five or more catches this season and three games with more than 70 receiving yards.

The 75-member All-West Region teams were selected from a pool of 152 nominations in balloting by West Region sports information directors and the staff of D3football.com, a national website that covers NCAA Division III football.

Augsburg has had at least one member named to the All-West Region team every year since the squad was first named in 2005 by D3football.com, and has had nine all-region honorees in the award's history.

Augsburg finished the 2009 season at 4-6 overall, 3-5 in MIAC play, the fifth season under head coach Frank Haege.
