MIAC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College baseball catcher
Craig Henry (JR, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
During
Augsburg's spring break-week trip to the Greater Phoenix (Ariz.) Invitational, Henry hit .500 (14-of-28) with 13 runs scored, 13 RBI and six doubles. He collected a .714 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage on the week. Henry is currently on an 11-game hitting streak, and had multiple-hit games four times on the Arizona trip.
On the season, Henry is hitting .370 (17-of-46), with team-bests of 15 RBI and six doubles. He also has a triple, 14 runs scored, a .543 slugging percentage, and .464 on-base percentage. Defensively, Henry has a .973 fielding percentage, and has thrown out seven batters trying to steal in 19 attempts so far this season.
Henry has developed a reputation as one of the top catchers in the conference, earning All-MIAC honors each of his first two seasons -- one of just two juniors in the MIAC who has earned all-conference honors each of the last two seasons. In January, Henry was named to the
Collegiate Baseball newspaper Division III "Players to Watch" list for the second straight season.
Augsburg, 6-9 on the season, opens MIAC play this Friday (3/27) at 4 p.m., with a doubleheader against St. Mary's at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
