FINAL RESULTS
NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Augsburg College's
Stefani Zappa (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Patrick Henry HS) made a hole-in-one on her 20th birthday on Saturday, as the Auggie women's golf team competed at the Carleton College Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Northfield Golf Club.
Augsburg was one of three teams in the 10-school, 13-team meet that was unable to complete both rounds due to darkness on Saturday, so it was put into a three-team, 27-hole event, where it finished second with a 589 total.
Zappa collected her first collegiate ace on the 145-yard 11th hole with a seven-iron, en route to a third-place, 135 (91-44) total.
Johanna Frykmark (SO, Stockholm, Sweden/Rollingby Gymnasium HS) shot a 148 (94-54) total to place ninth, and
Ellen Watters (SR, Lindstrom, Minn.) eclipsed the 100 mark in a round for the first time in her career, finishing with a 149 (99-50) total, placing 10th.
"
At her first freshman event she shot in the 140s and made a goal to break 100 sometime in her collegiate career," said Augsburg head coach Laura Patrick of Watters' finish. "She accomplished this goal as the result of four years of hard work."
Kelsey Corrick (SO, Glencoe, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake HS) shot a 157 total (104-53) to place 12th for the Auggies, while
Megan Dale (JR, Northfield, Minn.) shot a 202 total (137-65) to place 14th.
Augsburg will compete in a dual meet against Wisconsin-River Falls on Friday (4/17) at Hiawatha Golf Course in Minneapolis.
