RESULTS
NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Augsburg women's track and field team competed at the St. Olaf College Manitou Classic in Northfield on Saturday. The Auggies were led by
Whitney Holman (JR, New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS), who won her heat of the 100 meters, but was forced to withdraw from finals due to a sore calf muscle.
Erin Leyden (SO, Glen Ellyn, Ill. / Glenbard South HS) won her flight in the hammer throw with a mark of 35.49 meters (166-5) but wasn't able to qualify for finals. Leyden also finished eighth in her discus flight and fifth in her shot put flight.
Also competing for the Auggies was
Katie Vrieze (SO, Richfield, Minn. / Richfield HS),
Kacie Bahr (FY, Brainerd, Minn. / Brainerd HS) and
Sadie Dietrich (SR, Luverne, Minn. / Luverne HS) who finished 13th, 16th and 19th in the 400 meters, with times of 62.77, 64.72 and 65.01 respectively.
Amy Jo Opsal (FY, Mankato, Minn. / St. Clair HS) also recorded a top 20 finish for the Auggies, recording a 16th place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 73.91. Kristen Bunge (FY, Preston, Minn. / Fillmore Central HS) rounded out the top finishers for Augsburg with a fourth place finish in her flight of the long jump, recording a mark of 4.41 meters (14-5 3/4).
The Augsburg women's track and field team returns to action Saturday (4/25) at the Macalester College Invitational in St. Paul.
