ST. PETER, Minn. -- Jennifer Castillo (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) and Tiffany Magnuson (SR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS) had two hits apiece in the doubleheader, as Augsburg College was swept by host Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball action on Saturday afternoon at the Gustavus field.
Jessa Hinz (SO, Richfield, Minn.) drove in two of the three runs that Augsburg (2-20 overall, 0-4 MIAC) scored on the afternoon, as Augsburg was swept 11-0 and 13-3 by Gustavus (15-3 overall, 4-0 MIAC), with both games ending after five innings due to the NCAA eight-run rule. Castillo drove in a run and Magnuson had a double for the Auggies.
Augsburg was limited to two hits in the first game -- singles by Castillo and Sarah Mueller (SR, Green Bay, Wis./Southwest HS) -- while Magnuson had two hits in the second game. Castillo drove in a run on a groundout in the third inning, and Hinz plated two runs on a single in the fifth inning.
Augsburg returns to MIAC play on Tuesday (4/7) at 4 p.m., with a doubleheader at Hamline.
