MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College men's golfer Colby Anderson (SR, Luverne, Minn.) was named as a Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America, it was announced on Friday.

Anderson finished his senior season as Augsburg's No. 2 golfer, with a 78.2 season-long stroke average and a .689 individual winning percentage (533-241). He earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors with a seventh-place finish at the MIAC championships in October, and had seven top-10 finishes in his 12 tournaments this season, including a second-place finish at the Central (Iowa) Dutch Classic on March 27.

In four seasons at Augsburg (2004-06, 2007-09), Anderson compiled a 79.5 stroke average (5,409 strokes in 68 rounds).

Anderson is a business marketing major with a 3.222 grade-point average. He was one of four finalists or the male Honor Athlete award, the highest honor given to an Augsburg senior student-athlete, at the Auggie Awards in April.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA championships, have a stroke average under 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Under fourth-year head coach Ted Vickerman, the Augsburg men's golf team rebounded from last season's eighth-place finish at the MIAC championships with a third-place finish in this season's conference meet. Augsburg finished its 2008-09 season with a 315.1 stroke average, with six Auggies recording season-long stroke averages of 82.0 or better.
