Ward betters NCAA provisional mark in the long jump

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Nick Ward (SO, Coon Rapids, Minn.) improved his NCAA provisional mark in the long jump, recording a second-place finish with a distance of 7.03 meters (23-0.75) as he led the Auggies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Last Chance Qualifier Meet. Ward's mark currently ranks him 24th among NCAA Division III athletes.

In addition to his second-place effort in long jump , Ward also recorded a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.20 seconds. Ward's season best time of 10.74 seconds, which he recorded on May 2nd at the Hamline Meet of the UnSaintly, currently ranks him 23rd among Division III athletes.

Rick Wolke (FY, Belle Plaine, Minn.) also competed in two events for the Auggies, recording a ninth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 22.68 seconds and just missed making finals in the 100-meters with an 11.45 clocking.

Recording a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters was Brent Haglund (JR, Fridley, Minn.) with a time of 15.21.41. At last weekend's MIAC Championships, Haglund recorded an NCAA provisional time in the 10,000-meters with a time of 30:49.24, which currently ranks him 28th in Division III.

Also competing for the Auggies was Shane Pantila (SO, St. Michael, Minn./STMA HS), who recoded an 11th place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.47 meters (44-2.5).
