Auggies finish sixth at St.Olaf Invite

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Augsburg men's cross country team claimed a sixth place finish at the St. Olaf invitational in Northfield on Saturday morning, recording its highest team finish at St. Olaf since a fourth place finish in 2001. The Auggies were led by a fourth-place finish from Brent Haglund (SR, Fridley, Minn.), who completed the 8,000-meter course in 26:04.

Next across the line for the Auggies was Victor Sanchez (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS), who recorded 27th place finish, recording a time of 27:20. Shane Wyborny (SR, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and Ben Rodriguez (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) finished 39th and 45th, posting times of 27:35 and 27:48 respectively. Newcomer Matt Schafer (FY, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) rounded out the scoring for the Auggies, completing the race in 28:16, finishing in 66th place.

Geoff Gilmor (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) and Ryan Norman (FY, North Branch, Minn.) rounded out the top seven for Augsburg finishing in 29:01 and 29:35 respectively.

Augsburg returns to action on Saturday (9/26) when they travel to Falcon Heights, Minn. to take part in the
University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational.
