MINNEAPOLIS -- Brent Haglund (SR, Fridley, Minn.) led the Auggies with a second-place finish over the 5,000-meter course in Riverside Park, as he crossed the finish line in 15:54. Despite Augsburg claiming three of the top five places, the Royals were able to grab a narrow 27-29 victory over the Auggies.

Ben Rodriguez (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) ran a strong race for Augsburg, cutting more than a minute off his time on the same course a year ago, finishing fourth in 16:22. Just behind Rodriguez was Shane Wyborny (SR, Detroit Lakes, Minn.), who also ran a much improved race, cutting 50 seconds off his time from a year ago.

Also finishing top ten for the Auggies was Victor Sanchez (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS), who claimed a seventh place finish with a time of 16:48. Brian Byrnes (SO, Marshall, Minn.) and Matt Schaffer rounded out the top seven for the Auggies finishing in 11th and 12th places with times of 17:14 and 17:18 respectively.

The Auggies' next action will take place on Sept. 19 when they travel to Northfield, Minn. for the St. Olaf College Invitational.
