MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Augsburg College claimed a 35-32 advantage in shots-on-goal, but Concordia College-Moorhead scored the first three goals of the contest, en route to a 5-1 victory in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game on Saturday afternoon at the Moorhead Sports Center.
Bronson Shepherd had a goal and an assist, as 10 different Concordia (5-11-3 overall, 4-3-3 MIAC) players figured in the scoring in the victory, earning a split in the weekend series with Augsburg (10-6-1 overall, 3-4-1 MIAC).
#J.P. Perpich# (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) scored his first goal of the season at the 2:27 mark for the Auggies, assisted by
Ben Roberts (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS).
Concordia scored two shorthanded goals in the game, and Cobber goalie Jacob Vatnsdal picked up the win with a 34-save effort.
Justin Lochner (FY, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) started in goal for Augsburg, but gave up two goals in the first period before being relieved by
Nate Pellegrino (FY, Woodlyn, Pa./Lawrence Central HS), who made 15 saves in 41:24 of work.
Augsburg returns to MIAC play next weekend with a two-game MIAC series against Hamline. Friday's (1/29) game is at 7:05 p.m., at the Augsburg Ice Arena, and Saturday's (1/30) game is at 7:15 p.m. at the Drake Ice Arena in St. Paul.
