CSN MIAC PROFILES OF EXCELLENCE STORY
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College men's hockey forward
Chris Johnson (SR, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) is featured in the latest installment of the
College Sporting News "MIAC Profiles of Excellence" series by Rich Mies.
The series profiles outstanding senior student-athletes from the 13 schools of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Johnson is a two-year captain for the Auggie men's hockey team, and has been the subject of several profiles in recent weeks. His father, Mark Johnson, is the head coach of the U.S. Olympic women's hockey team for the upcoming Vancouver Winter Olympics (and is also the women's hockey head coach at the University of Wisconsin), and was a member of the "Miracle on Ice" 1980 U.S. Olympic men's hockey gold-medal-winning team. Chris' grandfather was the late "Badger Bob" Johnson, a legendary coach at both the collegiate and pro level.
Chris Johnson recently surpassed the 100-point mark for his career, now standing with 102 points (36 goals, 66 assists) in 94 career games as an Auggie.
