CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Augsburg College claimed two victories in preliminary action at the National Wrestling Coaches Association/Cliff Keen Division III National Duals on Saturday at the University of Northern Iowa's UNI-Dome, opening with a 33-7 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and following it up with a 25-12 quarterfinal triumph over North Central University (Ill.).

Augsburg, the No. 2-ranked team in the latest NWCA DIvision III national polls, will face No. 3-ranked Coe (Iowa) in the semifinals on Sunday at 11 a.m., with the winner advancing to face either No. 12-ranked Delaware Valley (Pa.) or No. 4-ranked Wartburg (Iowa) in the finals at 3 p.m. Delaware Valley upset top-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse 22-15 in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Augsburg's Tony Valek, the No. 3-ranked wrestler nationally at 149 pounds, scored two of Augsburg's three pins on the afternoon, with a pin with one second remaining in the first period in the opening match, and a pin at 1:33 in the second match.

Top-ranked 197-pounder Jared Massey had the other pin for the Auggies, with a 1:12 match-ender against Wisconsin-Whitewater. He also had a major decision win against North Central. The defending national champion at 197, Massey is now 11-0 on the season.

Augsburg claimed three major decisions against No. 22-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater, winning eight of 10 matches, and had to rally from an early 9-0 deficit to top No. 10-ranked North Central, winning six of the final seven bouts in the dual.
