MINNEAPOLIS -- Nine individuals will be inducted into Augsburg College's Athletic Hall of Fame during the annual enshrinement ceremony this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Christensen Center. The nine individuals will be the 38th class to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, a group that now includes 259 individuals and one team.

2010 Hall of Fame Inductees:

JOHN BEATTY '91 -- Beatty made history for Augsburg's wrestling program, becoming the first Auggie to ever win two national titles. He claimed the NCAA Division III national title at 134 pounds in 1988 and at 142 pounds in 1990. Beatty is one of just five Auggies to ever earn four All-American honors, as he finished second at 126 pounds in 1987 and fourth at 134 pounds in 1989, while also competing at the NCAA Division I national championships twice. He was one of 11 MIAC wrestlers to ever win four conference titles. Beatty was part of Auggie squads that finished in third place nationally in 1989 and second place in 1990, and his 149-14 career record included just three losses to NCAA Division III opponents. A health and physical education major, Beatty was selected as Augsburg's co-Senior Honor Athlete in 1990. He also served as an assistant coach for the Auggie wrestling team after his career ended, on the coaching staff for Augsburg's first NCAA Division III national title team in 1991. Since graduation, he helped to start two companies -- Fairway Dairy and Ingredients, an agricultural commodity trading company; and Twin Cities Power, an electricity trading company. He is currently the owner and president of Fairway Dairy and Ingredients. He also works with AmericanHelper, a nonprofit that serves children in need in the Philippines, and serves as a volunteer coach at area high schools. Beatty and his wife, Cheri, have three children -- Johnny, Carlie and Chloe -- and live in Lakeville, Minn.

REED BOLTMANN '88 -- Boltmann was a member of both the football and baseball teams during his Augsburg career. As a football safety, Boltmann earned All-MIAC second-team honors in both 1985 and 1986, earning the team's Most Valuable Player award both seasons. He compiled 328 tackles (107 solo) in the 1985 and 1986 campaigns. He earned the team's “Whistle-to-Whistle” award in 1985 and served as a team captain in 1986. In baseball, he was a starting outfielder on the 1987 Augsburg club that won the MIAC championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III national tournament. In three baseball seasons, he hit .272 with 26 RBI and 43 runs scored. He later served as an assistant coach for the Auggie football team for five seasons, including the team's MIAC championship season of 1997. After graduating with a health and physical education degree from Augsburg in 1988, he later earned his master's degree from Minnesota State Mankato. He has taught and coached in Prior Lake, St. Louis Park, Shakopee and Edina, and was named head coach for the Edina High School football team in 2009, after serving as an assistant coach there for nine seasons. He has worked as a teacher at Edina since 2000, and lives in Edina with his wife Tricia and their two sons, Brock and Jake.

JEFF DAINTY '90 -- Dainty was one of the dominant pitchers in the MIAC during his two seasons at Augsburg, earning All-MIAC baseball honors in both 1987 and 1988. The 1987 squad won the MIAC title and advanced to the NCAA Division III national tournament. Dainty was 20-6 in his two Auggie seasons, with 24 complete games and four shutouts in his Auggie record. He struck out 139 batters in his two seasons against just 84 walks, with a 3.36 career earned-run average. He went 12-3 with a 3.35 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 1987, and went 8-3 with a 3.37 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 1988. Dainty graduated from Augsburg in 1990 with a degree in health and physical education, and his master's degree in 1999. Since 1993, he has worked as a teacher at Northdale Middle School in Blaine, Minn., and has served as a baseball, football, basketball and volleyball coach during his career. He served four seasons as head coach for the Blaine High School baseball team. Dainty also played amateur baseball until 2006, on teams that won several amateur state titles. Jeff and his wife, Deanna, have a son, Ryan, and live in Blaine.

BRIAN DE CLERCQ '81 -- De Clercq was one of the key members of an Augsburg men's hockey squad that won the NAIA national championship in 1981, the team's second national championship in a five-year span. In 84 career games at Augsburg, De Clercq finished with 62 goals and 47 assists for 109 points, earning All-MIAC honorable-mention honors in 1980 and All-MIAC honors in 1981. De Clercq's 1980-81 campaign was a magical one, as he scored a team-high 30 goals -- tied for the second-most goals in a single season in school history -- with 18 assists for 48 points, earning NAIA All-American and NAIA All-Tournament Team honors. De Clercq earned his degree in education from Augsburg in 1981. He passed away on Jan. 14, 1983 after tragically contracting encephalitis. His family later dedicated a plaque that is displayed at the Augsburg Ice Arena, honoring Augsburg's men's hockey All-Americans.

NATASHA HAMANN '99 -- Hamann finished her career as one of the best setters in the history of Augsburg's volleyball program, re-writing the Auggie record-book in the assist category. She finished her career with a school-record 3,926 assists -- the first of only two players to ever have 3,000-plus career assists at Augsburg. Her 8.76 assist-per-set mark is second-best in school history. Her 1,193 assists in the 1997 season is a school record, one of three season assist totals Hamann has on the school's top-10 record list. She also ranks second in school history in career aces (168) and eighth in career digs (1,071), while also contributing 375 kills and 114 blocks. She played in all but one set of every match in her collegiate career, playing in a school-record 123 matches and 448 sets. Hamann earned All-MIAC honors in both 1997 and 1998, while earning all-conference honorable-mention honors in 1996. Hamann was also a member of Augsburg's women's golf team for two seasons. Hamann graduated Magna Cum Laude from Augsburg in 1999, majoring in biology. She earned Academic All-MIAC honors three times, was a GTE Academic All-District selection her senior year, and was named a co-Honor Athlete in 1999. Hamann later attended medical school at the University of Minnesota, and now serves as a family practice physican at Allina Medical Clinic in Buffalo, Minn., where she lives.

ANN KNUTSON BROVOLD '74 -- Brovold was an women's athletics pioneer in the years just prior to the enactment of Title IX. She was a key member of the first gymnastics teams at Augsburg, competing for coach Joyce Pfaff, and was the first female in any sport to qualify for postseason competition. She was part of a team that placed sixth in state competition in the 1973-74 season. Brovold earned her degree in health and physical education from Augsburg in 1974, and taught junior high physical education and health after graduation. She also served as a gymnastics coach and judge for several years. During her career, she managed a recycling program in Ohio, worked for a marketing and communications company, and later worked as an environmental specialist for the Dakota County Environmental Management department, from which she retired in 2005. She also volunteered for her church youth group and for a greenhouse involved in lakeshore restoration. Brovold and her husband, Tom, have two sons, Chad and Shawn. Brovold currently lives in Barnes, Wis.

ASTRID LARSSEN '98 -- Larssen was an outstanding athlete in two sports at Augsburg, soccer and track and field. Named the MIAC's Most Valuable Player in 1996, Larssen played three seasons of soccer for the Auggies, finishing her career with 14 goals and 23 assists for 51 points. She currently ranks second in school history in career assists, sixth in points and 10th in goals. Larssen earned All-MIAC honors in each of her three seasons (1993, 1995, 1996), while earning UMBRO All-Central Region honors in 1995. In track and field, Larssen was one of the top sprinters in school history, setting school records in both the 100- (11.96 seconds) and 200-meter (25.05 second) dashes that stood for eight years. She qualified for the NCAA Division III national championships five times -- in the outdoor 100-meter dash in 1996, 1997 and 1998, and in the outdoor 200-meter dash in 1997 and 1998. At the 1998 national championships, she earned All-America honors twice, finishing sixth in the 200 and third in a dramatic three-way photo finish in the 100. She earned Outstanding Performance of the Meet honors at the 1998 MIAC outdoor championships with her conference-record 11.96-second victory in the 100. A native of Oslo, Norway, Larssen earned her degree in chemistry from Augsburg and later earned her master's (interactive multimedia) and doctorate (computer science) degrees from the University of Technology, Sydney (Australia). Currently, Larssen serves as an assistant professor in the computer science department at Ashesi University College in Accra, Ghana, the first liberal arts college in West Africa. Larssen and her husband, Matthew Taggart, have two children, Ingrid Akosua and Benjamin Owusu.

TOM WEIDNER '84 -- Weidner was an outstanding linebacker for the Auggies in the early 1980s, earning All-MIAC honors in both 1982 and 1983, while earning All-MIAC honorable-mention honors in 1981. In 1982, he was named the team's Most Valuable Player, after recording 74 tackles, a fumble recovery and two interceptions. He served as team captain his senior season and repeated his team MVP honor, recording 94 tackles, including 11 for loss and three sacks, with a fumble recovery and an interception. Weidner earned his bachelor's degree in political science in 1984 and received his law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law in 1990. He began his law practice in Stillwater, Minn., with the Eckberg Lammers law firm, where he has served as a partner since 1994. He has practiced personal injury law and criminal prosecution for more than 20 years, and is active in the Minnesota State Bar Association and Minnesota Board of Governors. He recently received the Bar Association's Award for Professional Excellence for his involvement in representation of victims of the I-35W bridge collapse. He was also selected by his peers as a “Super Lawyer” in Minnesota Law and Politics and Minneapolis-St. Paul magazines. He serves as a volunteer coach for youth athletic teams in the St. Croix Valley area and serves on several community volunteer boards and committees. Weidner and his wife, Tracey, have two daughters -- Madeline and Natalie -- and live in Stillwater.

DON WICHMANN '89 -- Wichmann was one of the top middleweight wrestlers in school history, finishing his career with 137 victories, setting a school record at the time. He earned MIAC championships three times - 1986 and 1987 at 142 pounds, and 1989 at 150 pounds -- while earning MIAC tournament Most Valuable Wrestler honors in both 1987 and 1989. Wichmann earned All-American honors with a fourth-place finish at 150 pounds in the 1989 NCAA Division III national championships. Wichmann was named a co-Honor Athlete in 1989. After graduating from Augsburg with a marketing and management major in 1989, Wichmann joined the Augsburg coaching staff, where he served as an assistant coach for 19 seasons (1990-2007, 2008-09). As an assistant coach, he was a part of 10 NCAA Division III national title teams, 13 MIAC championship teams and 14 MIAC Team Duals titles, while helping with the coaching of 134 All-Americans and 34 individual national titlists. He has worked at Gopher Stage Lighting, an architectural and entertainment lighting and rigging company, since 1989, and has operated his own wrestling equipment business, DW Athletics/Wrestling Products, since 1995. Wichmann and his wife Mindy live in Minneapolis, Minn.
