NCAA MEN'S SOCCER REGIONAL RANKINGS
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College men's soccer team is ranked No. 3 in the North Region in the initial NCAA Division III regional rankings, released on Wednesday.
The NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Committee ranked the top 15 percent of the eligible teams in each of the eight regions for the initial rankings. A total of 60 teams will earn invitations to the Division III national tournament -- 41 "Pool A" teams from automatic qualifying conferences, two "Pool B" teams from non-automatic qualifying conferences, and 17 "Pool C" at-large teams.
The next regional ranking will be announced on Oct. 27, and the national tournament bracket will be announced on Nov. 8.
Augsburg is 10-4-1 overall (9-4-1 in-region record) and, at No. 3, is the highest-ranked Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team. Macalester (11-3-1) is ranked No. 4, Concordia-Moorhead (11-3-1) is ranked No. 5 and Carleton (9-4-1) is ranked No. 7. Wisconsin-Whitewater (10-1-2) is the top-ranked team in the North Region, with Wisconsin-Oshkosh (15-0-2) ranked No. 2 and St. Scholastica (12-3-1) ranked No. 6.
Augsburg returns to MIAC play on Saturday (10/23) at 1 p.m. with a game at Hamline. The Auggies close the regular season with two conference home games at Edor Nelson Field -- against St. Mary's on Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m., and against Gustavus on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
