2010 MIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER AWARDS
MINNEAPOLIS -- Three Augsburg College women's soccer players received honors from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the conference announced in its 2010 women's soccer awards on Wednesday.
Defender
Gina Liddell-Westefeld (SR, Iowa City, Iowa) earned All-MIAC honors, while midfielder
Courtney Gamrath (JR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) earned All-MIAC honorable-mention recognition. Midfielder
Lacey Hoover (SR, Duluth, Minn./Central HS) was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.
Starting all 18 games, Liddell-Westefeld, a team co-captain, anchored Augsburg's defense. She appeared in 1620 of the team's 1628 minutes (99.5 percent) this season, and was part of a defense that allowed a 1.55 team goals-against-average (28 goals in 18 games) this season. Liddell-Westefeld appeared in 66 games (30 starts) in her career, with two assists.
Gamrath started all 18 games in the midfield, with team highs of six assists and 16 points, along with a team-high-tying five goals. She appeared in 1,361 minutes of action this season (83.6 percent). Her six assists tied for seventh-most among MIAC players in overall statistics. Gamrath has started all 54 games in her three seasons at Augsburg, with seven goals and 12 assists for 26 points.
Hoover was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. As a part of the conference's sportsmanship initiative, members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
Hoover started 15 games this season, with two goals and one assist for five points, including one game-winning goal. A team co-captain this season, Hoover appeared in 68 games (63 starts) in her career, with 16 goals and five assists for 37 points. Her 16 goals are tied for seventh-most in school history, while her 37 points are 11th-most in school history. A biology major, Hoover has also earned Academic All-MIAC honors each of the last two years.
