BOXSCORE

LINCOLN, Neb. – Matthew Quammen (SR, Victoria, Minn./Holy Family HS) hit the game-winning shot with 26 seconds left in regulation, leading the Augsburg College men's basketball team to a 60-59 victory over host Nebraska Wesleyan University in the 22nd annual Snyder Classic championship game on Saturday evening at Snyder Arena.

Augsburg is off to its second straight 4-0 start to the season, marking the first time that the Auggies have started consecutive seasons at least 4-0 since the 1979-80 (20-0 start) and 1980-81 (5-0 start) campaigns.

Quammen was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, while Grzesiak-Grimm was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Nebraska Wesleyan (3-2 overall) was led by Jonah Bradley and Eric Jackson, who each scored 12 points and had three rebounds. Dylan Aylward scored 11 points and five rebounds for the Prairie Wolves.

A 12-4 run to close the first half gave the Auggies a 33-23 advantage, a lead Nebraska Wesleyan would slowly chip away. The Prairie Wolves tied the game for the first time with just over three minutes remaining.

Both teams traded baskets in an exciting final three minutes of action, which included a Quammen three-pointer with 1:10 left on the clock, countered by a three-pointer by Nebraska's Jonah Bradley with 42 seconds left in the action. Quammen came down the floor and nailed a jumper with 26 seconds left to put Augsburg up 60-59. The Prairie Wolves had a chance to go ahead with two seconds left, but were not able to convert as the Auggies hung on for the win.

Augsburg returns to action on Wednesday (12/1) at 7:30 p.m., when it travels to Winona to take on St. Mary's University in the Auggies' Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference-opener.
