Al-Hameed, Pronschinske named All-Americans

D3FOOTBALL.COM 2010 ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College wide receiver Muneer Al-Hameed (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Minneapolis Washburn HS) and tight end Josh Pronschinske (SR, Fountain City, Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City HS) were named to the D3football.com All-America teams as honorable-mention selections, it was announced on Saturday.

The honor caps a year of honors for the two Auggie receivers. Both were named to the D3football.com All-West Region squads earlier this month, Al-Hameed as a first-team receiver and Pronschinske as a second-team tight end. Both earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first-team honors earlier this month.

The duo are the seventh and eighth players to earn All-America honors from D3football.com since the site began awarding All-America honors in 1999. Wide receiver Royce Winford earned first-team honors in 2008 and second-team honors in 2007. Punter Nick Schlieman was an honorable-mention honoree in both 2003 and 2005. Linebacker Mike Matson was a third-team honoree in 2005, and defensive back Jake Kern was a second-team honoree in 1999.

Muneer Al-Hameed
As a wide receiver, Al-Hameed led the MIAC in receptions per-game (7.00), with 70 catches for 832 yards (third-best in the MIAC in overall statistics) and five touchdowns this season. In his 39-game career, Al-Hameed finished with 258 receptions for 3,089 yards and 18 touchdowns -- the reception total the second-most in school history, the yardage total third-best and the touchdown total sixth-best.

Al-Hameed proved his versatility this season, as he transitioned from wide receiver to quarterback for the final three games of the season after starter Marcus Brumm (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) was lost for the year due to injury. As a quarterback, Al-Hameed completed 17-of-34 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns in three starts.

Josh Pronschinske
Pronschinske led the conference's tight ends in receiving for the second straight year, with 43 catches for 463 yards and four touchdowns. His 4.78 receptions per-game ranked eighth-best in the league in overall statistics, while his 51.4 receiving yards per-game ranked 10th-best.

In his 26-game career, Pronschinske finished with 85 catches for 911 yards and six touchdowns.

The 103-member All-America squad was named by the staff of D3football.com, a national website that covers NCAA Division III football.

Under sixth-year head coach Frank Haege, Augsburg finished 4-6 overall, 2-6 in MIAC play in 2010.
