Auggies claim draw with CSB

ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- Rallying with two goals in the third period, the Augsburg College women's hockey team scored a 3-3, overtime tie with the College of St. Benedict in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

Emilie Ball (FY, Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS), Jessica Larkin (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) and Elise Hedlund (SR, Robbinsdale, Minn./Cooper HS) scored for Augsburg (0-7-1 overall, 0-4-1 MIAC), and Alex Hall (FY, Burnsville, Minn.) recorded 32 saves in goal.

Trailing 2-1 after two periods, the Auggies tied the game in the third frame, as Larkin scored from Jenna Knudtson (SR, Austin, Minn.) and Jeanna Dudley (SO, Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community HS) at the 5:47 mark, and Hedlund scored an unassisted goal at the 12:45 mark.

Augsburg outshot St. Benedict (0-4-3 overall, 0-2-3 MIAC) by a 6-2 margin in overtime, but was unable to record a game-winning goal. St. Benedict outshot Augsburg by a 35-23 margin in the game, with Blazer goalie Abbie Helminen (SR, Brighton, Minn.) recording 20 saves.

Ball scored her first collegiate goal for the Auggies at the 11:27 mark of the first period, an unassisted marker. St. Benedict scored three straight goals after that, from Kerri Graske (JR, Stillwater, Minn.), Ashley Olson (SO, Fairmont, Minn.) and Kelly Fladebo (JR, Mora, Minn.).

The teams complete the MIAC weekend series on Saturday (12/5) at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
