Dyshaw posts double-double, Auggies fall to Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Brittany Dyshaw (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) led Augsburg College with 15 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Auggies fell 77-67 to Carleton College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Carleton's West Gymnasium.

Dyshaw posted her first double-double of the season in leading Augsburg (1-4 overall, 0-2 MIAC) in a hard-fought loss to Carleton (3-2 overall, 2-0 MIAC). Katie Ahlstrom (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) and Lexi Thompson (JR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) both provided a big spark off the bench for the Auggies. Ahlstrom scored a career-high 16 points, connecting on 4-of-6 from behind the arc and added three assists. Thompson also scored in double figures, with 10 points on a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the free-throw line.

Carleton finished with three players in double-figures, led by Jenny Ramey, who finished with 23 points and seven assists.

After trailing 43-35 at the half, the Auggies put together a strong second-half rally, cutting the Carleton lead to two on four separate occasions. A Dyshaw layup at the 5:47 mark put the score at 64-62 in favor of the Knights and concluded an exchange of baskets by the two teams. Carleton then put together a 14-0 run which took the game out of reach for the Auggies.

Augsburg had its best shooting game of the season thus far, connecting on 43.4 percent (23-of-53) of its shots, out-shooting the Knights who hit 41.8 percent (28-of-67) of their shots. Carleton claimed a 41-36 advantage on the boards and 18-26 advantage in turnovers.

Augsburg and Carleton both return to action on Monday (12/6), with Augsburg traveling to St. Thomas and Carleton traveling to Concordia.
