Haglund earns USTFCCCA All-Academic honors

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg's Brent Haglund (SR, Fridley, Minn.) earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors it was announced today by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Haglund was one of eight men's cross country student-athletes in the MIAC to be named to the All-Academic Team

The USTFCCCA All-Academic award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 35 among the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.

A Youth & Family Ministry major with a 3.67 grade-point average, Haglund has earned numerous honors both in the classroom and on the cross country course during his Augsburg career. Haglund was a two-time All-MIAC and All-Central Region performer in cross country and was also two-time participant in the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships, finishing as high as 57th. Haglund is currently the Augsburg school record for the 6K distance in cross country and the 3,000 and 5,000 meter distance in indoor track as well as the 5,000 and 10,000 meter distances in outdoor track and field.

As a team, Augsburg recorded its highest ever NCAA Regional finish in 2009, where five of Augsburg's top seven runners achieved personal-best times, including three all-region performances, as the Auggies recorded a seventh-place team finish.
