SAAC completes fundraiser

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Thanks to the generosity of students, fans, and other donors, the Augsburg College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) raised more than $300 for Toys for Tots of Minneapolis. The SAAC group raised the funds by taking donations in the form of votes for the Augsburg faculty/staff member people most wanted to see duct taped to the wall.

“The Student-Athlete advisory committee was really pleased to be able to help those in need during the holidays and is truly grateful to all those who donated and to our volunteers who agreed to be a part of the duct taping," said Advisor Kelly Anderson Diercks.

"To raise over $300 in under a week is a great testament to the generosity of the Augsburg community. I am personally deeply thankful to all the student-athletes who helped with this event and especially to Allex Pollock for his involvement," added Diercks.

Assistant football coach Alex Pollock  was the lucky (or unlucky) faculty/staff member to be taped to the wall during the entire first half of Augsburg's 71-68 men's basketball victory over Macalester College on Saturday.

The Augsburg College Toys for Teens drive collected more than 40 toys and just over $300. The drive was part of a conference-wide initiative involving the 13 institutions of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). As a whole, it was a record-setting year for the MIAC, collecting 380 toys and nearly $2,500. Full MIAC Press Release.
