TEAM-BY-TEAM RESULTS | RESULTS SUMMARY

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Joel Kociemba (JR, Andover, Minn./St. Francis HS) tied for 15th individually with a two-day total of 149, leading the Augsburg College men's golf team to one of its best finishes this season, an eighth-place finish at the Wartburg College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Centennial Oaks Golf Course.

As a team, Augsburg finished eighth in the 18-school, 20-team invitational with a two-day, 36-hole total of 615 (305-310), its best score in a 36-hole event this season. The first-round 305 on Saturday tied for the team's best 18-hole round of the year, and the second-round result marked the first time all five Auggie competitors had scores in the 70s this season.

"I am very proud of our team," said Augsburg head coach Ted Vickerman. "They played great and had fun. Over the winter we worked on the basics, and it's starting to pay off."

Kociemba shot an opening-round, even-par 72 on Saturday, tying his season- and collegiate-best round  -- the best individual round shot by an Auggie this season. He followed that up with a 77 in the second round to finish at 5-over-par 149, a collegiate-low score for him in a 36-hole event by three strokes.

Christopher Tobkin (FY, Willmar, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) shot a collegiate-best 76 in his first round and followed it up with a second-round 77 for a 27th-place 153, his collegiate high for a 36-hole round.

Zach Johnson (FY, Sartell, Minn.) finished in a tie for 47th with a 157 (78-79) total, while Brian Deuel (SO, Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) finished in a tie for 53rd with a 158 (79-79) total. Jason Henning (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn.) finished in a 61st-place tie with a 160 (83-77) total.

Augsburg returns to action on Thursday (4/15) at the University of Wisconsin-Stout Border Battle in Menomonie, Wis.
