Joel Kociemba (JR, Andover, Minn./St. Francis HS) shot a career-best 221, including a second-round career-best 69, to finish eighth overall, leading the Augsburg College men's golf team at the Gustavus Adolphus College Bobby Krig Invitational on Sunday and Monday.
Kociemba's 54-hole 221 (78-69-74) led the Auggies to a fifth-place overall finish in their final meet of the 2009-10 season, as the Auggies finished with 909 strokes (309-297-303). Sunday's first round was played at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn., with Monday's second and third rounds at the Le Sueur Country Club.
All five Auggies finished in the top 49 in the 13-team (11-school), 75-player field, as the Auggies produced their two best single-round totals of the season, with Monday's 297 and 303 scores.
Christopher Tobkin (FY, Willmar, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) shot a career-best 74 in his second round to finish 27th overall with a 231 total (80-74-77).
Zach Johnson (FY, Sartell, Minn.) tied a career-best with his first- and third-round 76 scores, producing a 232 (76-80-76) total to tie for 29th.
Brian Deuel (SO, Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) set a career-best for a 54-hole round with his 237 (75-86-76) total to tie for 42nd, while
Jason Henning (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn.) finished in a tie for 49th with a 239 (86-74-79), tying his career-best round with the second-round 74.
Competing as an individual,
Tim Herrmann (FY, Belle Plaine, Minn.) finished 59th with a 246 (81-84-81) total.
