Augsburg's women's soccer team is sending daily diaries during the team's trip to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Here's the team's diary entry for Tuesday, May 11:

The eight hours and 45 minutes it took for us to get over to Brussels, Belgium was interesting, to say the least! The flight was not exactly appealing, but when we got there, it was definitely worth it!

After we met our tour guide, Hub, we all went on a tour of Brussels. He showed us many landmarks like castles, embassies, and churches, and gave us interesting information on them as well -- like when the Belgium flag is out on top of the castle, that means the King is in the city. He showed us churches where every member of the royal family was married, and buried as well.

The city of Brussels had many older buildings, but they are rebuilding most of those buildings to become more "office-like." After touring the city we got to shop around at many of the local shops. There were a lot of chocoloate shops, clothing shops, and a ton of souvenior stores.

We checked into the Best Western Walram in Valkenburg, Holland around 4 p.m. We got to explore the town and have some free time to ourselves before and after dinner which was at 6 p.m. That is where we are at for now, just really tired!! We have a lot more enjoyment to come, like our first game tomorrow!
