TOURNAMENT STATISTICS
SARTELL, Minn. --
Brian Deuel (JR, Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) and
Joel Kociemba (SR, Andover, Minn./St. Francis HS) each produced two rounds in the 70s to finish among the top 36 overall, leading Augsburg College men's golf team at the St. John's University Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Deuel, competing as an individual, shot a two-round total of 155 (78-77) to tie for 26th in the 115-golfer field, while Kociemba shot a 156 (77-79) total to tie for 36th overall.
As a team, Augsburg tied for 12th in the 16-school, 21-team event with a 36-hole total of 631 (324-307), its best two-round total of the season so far. Augsburg's 307 round on Sunday is its best single round of the season. The tournament was held at Greystone Golf Club in Sauk Centre, Minn., on Saturday and at the Blackberry Ridge Golf Club in Sartell on Sunday.
Zach Johnson (SO, Sartell, Minn.) shot a 158 (81-77) total to tie for 50th, while
Tucker Williams (JR, Roseville, Minn.) tied for 52nd with a 159 (84-75) total, with his second-round 75 and 159 36-hole totals both collegiate career-bests.
Matt Kowalski (SO, Marinette, Wis.) shot a career-best-tying 162 total,
Chris Tobkin (SO, Willmar, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) shot a 166 total and
Jason Henning (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn.), competing as an individual, shot a 172 total.
Augsburg returns to action next Sunday and Monday (9/26-27) at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational in Altoona, Wis.
