MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College quarterback
Marcus Brumm (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Auggies' 62-10 season-opening win over Concordia-Wisconsin, it was announced on Monday.
In Saturday's win, Brumm was a part of six of Augsburg's seven touchdowns in the 62-10 triumph -- the second-most points scored in a game in Augsburg football history. Brumm threw for a career-high five touchdowns and rushed for another in the win, completing 27-of-34 passes with no interceptions for a career-best 373 yards. His .794 completion percentage (27-of-34) was also a career-high.
Brumm connected on touchdown passes of 22, 37, 8, 15 and 10 yards. Brumm completed 15 of his last 16 pass attempts to give the Auggies a 55-3 lead when he left the game in the third quarter.
The performance was Brumm's fifth 300-plus-yard passing performance in his 11 career starts. He now has 2,891 yards and 18 touchdowns as an Auggie on 247-of-470 passing (.526).
Augsburg hosts Martin Luther College in another nonconference contest this Saturday (9/11) at 1 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field. Augsburg has its first four games of the season at Edor Nelson Field.
