ST. PAUL, Minn. --
Kelsey Hlavac (FY, Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley HS) led the Augsburg College women's swimming team with three top-17 finishes at the St. Catherine University Invitational on Saturday afternoon. As a team, the Auggies finished in seventh place with 61 team points.
Hlavac recorded the top Augsburg finish, placing 11th in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:35.58. She also finished 12th in the 1,650-yard freestyle (20:48.81) and 17th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.46). Hlavac's time in the 1,650 was a season-best by nine seconds.
Samantha Hebzynski (FY, Maple Grove, Minn.) posted three top-25 finishes for the Auggies, coming in 17th in the 500-yard freestyle (6:22.20), 21st in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:05.78) and 24th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:26.40). Hebzynski's time in the 500-yard freestyle was a season-best by two seconds.
Also competing for Augsburg was
Katie Neff (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) and
Carmen Lovato (FY, Oakland, Calif. / Bayhill HS), who finished 1:16.93 and 1:20.68, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle.
Augsburg will return to action next Friday and Saturday (2/4-5) at the Minnesota Challenge, hosted at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
