GAME BOXSCORE
MINNEAPOLIS --
Alex Hall (FY, Burnsville, Minn.) collected 23 saves in goal for Augsburg College, as the Auggie women's hockey team dropped a 1-0 exhibition result to club powerhouse Lindenwood University (Mo.) on Saturday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.
The game was an exhibition contest for Augsburg, and will not count for either standings or statistics for the Auggies. However, the Auggies showed their continued improvement against Lindenwood (18-1-1 overall), winners of club hockey (ACHA) national titles in four of the last five seasons, including the last three years in a row.
Lindenwood, the No. 1 ranked club squad nationally, entered Saturday's game having outscored its opponents by a 105-18 margin, including a 49-0 advantage in its last four wins, all shutouts. But the Lions were limited to just 24 shots by Augsburg, and were held to just one goal for only the second time in their 20 games this season.
The lone goal came at the 3:51 mark of the third period, as Shea Crawford (SR, Springfield, Ill.) scored a power-play tally on an assist by Brett Lobreau (SO, Drydon, Ontario).
Augsburg's
Jeanna Dudley (SO, Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community HS) had six shots on goal, while
Jenna Knudtson (SR, Austin, Minn.),
Kressi Lehn (SR, Rogers, Minn.),
Erin Leyden (SR, Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South HS) and
Jessica Larkin (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) had three shots apiece.
Augsburg outshot Lindenwood by a 25-24 margin. Rebecca Bernet (SR, Katy, Texas) stopped all 25 shots she faced to claim her fifth shutout of the season.
The teams complete the exhibition series on Sunday (1/9) at 2 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
