RESULTS
EAU CLAIRE, Wis.--Micheale Tesema (SO, Burnsville, Minn.) recorded a 30th place finish and ran a career best time to lead the Augsburg College men's cross country team to a 13th place team finish at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Clarie Blugold Invitational Friday afternoon. 22 schools competed in the team competition at the Whitetail Golf Course 8,000 meter race site.
Tesema, who finished the race with a time of 26:12, showed an improvement of over one minute in the same race last season. Tesema has been the top Augsburg finisher in each of the teams' three races this season.
Joe Arnold (SR, Grand Rapids, Minn.) was the second Augsburg runner to cross the finish line, completing the race with a career best time of 26:37 to finish in 64th place overall. The race marks the first time Arnold has cracked the 27:00 mark during his career at Augsburg.
Brian Byrnes (JR, Marshall, Minn.), Hunter Melius (SO, Shakopee, Minn.) and Daniel Gerber (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) rounded out the top five finishers for Augsburg, as Byrnes recorded a career best time of 27:21 to finish in 83rd place. Melius also recorded a career best time, finishing the race in 27:58, while Gerber rounded out the Augsburg top five with a time of 28:02.
Also competing for Augsburg were runners Luke Iverson (FY, Maple Grove, Minn.) and Austin Erickson (SR, Albany, Minn.) who recorded times of 28:34 and 29:51 respectively. Iverson's time marks a career best.
The Auggies return to action next Saturday (10/8) when they travel to Kenosha, Wis. to participate in the Lucian Rosa Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
