Auggie men 22nd at UW-La Crosse

WEST SALEM, Wis. -- The Augsburg College men's cross country team competed at the Jim Drews Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday morning at Maple Grove Golf Course. The Auggies recorded a 22nd-place team finish in the 8,000-meter event, which featured a total of 26 teams competing.

Micheale Tesema (SO, Burnsville, Minn.) recorded a 40th-place finish with a time of 26:39. Joe Arnold (SR, Grand Rapids, Minn.) finished in 94th place with a time of 27:26, while Brian Byrnes (JR, Marshall, Minn.) finished the race with a time of 28:25.

Dakota Darkstar (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS) and Luke Iverson (FY, Maple Grove, Minn.) rounded out the Augsburg top five, recording times of 28:36 and 29:14 respectively. Daniel Gerber (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) and Austin Erickson (SR, Albany, Minn.) also competed for Augsburg, as the duo finished with times of 30:00 and 30.13.

A total of 437 runners competed in the field which Stanley Kebenei of Iowa Central won with a time of 24:21.8.

The Auggies will be off from competition next weekend, as the team will now prepare for the upcoming Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul, Minn.The race is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
