MIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College women's soccer forward
Bri Clark (JR, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Clark scored two goals in two key conference victories during the past week, helping to keep the Auggies in the race for a spot in the four-team MIAC postseason playoffs.
In
Augsburg's 2-1 win over St. Olaf last Tuesday, Clark scored Augsburg's first goal, a header off a corner kick just 2:28 into the contest. The Oles had entered the game leading the conference standings and suffered their first conference loss of the season against the Auggies.
Against Gustavus on Saturday, Clark scored the lone goal of the game in a 1-0 Augsburg win, shooting the ball to the upper right corner of the goal from 15 yards out in the 24th minute.
Clark now has team-highs of nine goals and 21 points, tied for third-most among MIAC players (overall statistics) in goals and fourth-most in points. Her 42 shots this season are fifth-most among MIAC players.
Augsburg, now 7-6-1 overall and 4-2-1 in MIAC play, hosts St. Catherine on Wednesday (10/19) at 7:30 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field. The Auggies currently stand in sixth place in the MIAC standings with 13 league points (three points for a win, one point for a tie), just three points out of fourth place with four MIAC games remaining in the regular season.
