Swimmers compete at UST Relays

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg College women's swimming team made the school's all-time records list in two relay events, competing at the University of St. Thomas Relays on Friday evening.

The Auggies' 800-yard freestyle relay, made up of Maggie Royce (FY, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS), Samantha Hebzynski (SO, Maple Grove, Minn.), Kelsey Hlavac (SO, Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley HS) and Kayla Mitchell (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Insight School of Minnesota) recorded the third-fastest time in school history in the event, with a 9:24.40 finish.

Augsburg's 400-yard freestyle relay, made up of Hebzynski, Mitchel, Royce and Abigail Novak (JR, Aurora, Minn./Mesabi East HS), claimed the sixth-fastest time in school history in the event, finishing in 4:22.87.

Friday's meet was made up of eight women's, eight men's and one co-ed relay events. Augsburg's 200-yard freestyle relay, made up of Elizabeth Hilgendorf (FY, Tomahawk, Wis.), Breana Kirch (FY, Waunakee, Wis.), Carmen Lovato (SO, Oakland, Calif./Bayhill HS) and Hlavac, finished in 2:03.45. The Auggie 400-yard individual medley relay, with Hlavac, Kirch, Hilgendorf and Elianna Bier (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park HS), finished in 5:29.21.

In other relay events, Augsburg finished in 2:17.94 in the 200-yard co-ed medley relay, in 4:21.78 in the 300-yard breaststroke relay, in 3:37.03 in the 300-yard butterfly relay and in 3:38.59 in the 300-yard backstroke relay.
