Auggies finish fall at MIAC meet

COON RAPIDS, Minn. -- Jill Ferguson (JR, Batavia, Ill.) shot a three-day total of 281 to lead Augsburg College, as the Auggie women's golf team completed its fall half of the 2011-12 season at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, held Saturday to Monday at the Bunker Hills Golf Course.

Ferguson finished with a final-round 88 for her three-day, 54-hole total of 281 (98-95-88) to finish 43rd overall. Her final-round 88 was tied for the team's best individual round of the fall half of the season, and her 281 total was just four strokes from the best 54-hole total of her collegiate career.

As a team, Augsburg finished 11th with a 1,166-stroke total (399-387-380), improving 19 strokes from Saturday's first round to Monday's final round. The final-round 380 was just two strokes shy of Augsburg's best round of the fall half of the season.

Ashley Lindemann (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) finished with a collegiate-best 285 total (94-97-94), including a career-best 94 in the first and third rounds.

Courtney Barthel (FY, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) shot a 297 (103-96-98) total, Kelly Linton (FY, Keiter, Ore./McNary HS) shot 303 (104-99-100) and Margaret Hughes (SO, Mendota Heights, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) shot 311 (104-104-103).

Augsburg finishes the fall half of the season with a 398.5 team stroke average, and will resume the 2011-12 season in the spring.
