SOMERS, Wis.--
Micheale Tesema (SO, Burnsville, Minn.) recorded a second-place finish to lead the Augsburg College men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rosa Invitational on Saturday morning. A total of nine teams and 65 runners competed in the race.
Tesema's time of 26:34 over the 8,000-meter distance was eight seconds behind meet winner Kris Sandlin of Franklin (Ind.). Tesema has led the Auggies in three out of the teams four races this season.
Joe Arnold (SR, Grand Rapids, Minn.) finished in 11th place for Augsburg, recording a time of 27:26.
Hunter Melius (SO, Shakopee, Minn.) finished just behind Arnold, in 12th place, recording a career-best time of 27:34.
Brian Byrnes (JR, Marshall, Minn.) finished the race in 14th place with a time of 27:38, while
Luke Iverson (FY, Maple Grove, Minn.) rounded out the Augsburg top five with a 22nd-place finish. Iverson's time of 28:53 marks his second-fastest time in 2011.
Austin Erickson (SR, Albany, Minn.) recorded a time of 30:03 to finish in 34th place.
The Auggies will return to action next Saturday (10/15) when they travel to La Crosse, Wis. to participate in the Wisconsin-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational.
