MIAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY AWARDS
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg men's cross country runners
Micheale Tesema (SO, Burnsville, Minn.) and
Joe Arnold (SR, Grand Rapids, Minn.) earned honors from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, it was announced on Thursday by the conference office.
Tesema earned his first all-conference honor after finishing in 14th place with a time of 26:05 at the 2011 MIAC Championships. As one of the Auggies' most consistent runners this season, Tesema ran a career-best time at this year's conference meet, and improved his time by more than a minute-and-a-half from his result at the same race in 2010. A two-year participant in the Augsburg program, Tesema finished as the Auggies' top individual runner in all but one of the team's six races this season.
Arnold was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team for the second consecutive season, as part of the conference's sportsmanship initiative. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition. In his four years at Augsburg, Arnold has participated in 25 races, and recorded a personal-best time of 26:38 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Invite earlier this season.
The Augsburg men's cross country team closes out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the NCAA Division III Central Regional at Wartburg (Iowa).
