Jessica Larkin (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) scored a goal in the final minute for Augsburg College, but the Auggies dropped a 3-1 decision to St. Mary's University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.
Nicole Olson (JR, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) and Brooke Bartelt (FY, New Prague, Minn.) scored second-period goals for St. Mary's (10-6-3 overall, 7-2-3 MIAC), which outshot Augsburg (3-13-1 overall, 1-10-1 MIAC) by a 29-16 margin, including a 16-4 advantage in the second period.
In the closing minute, Augsburg's Larkin scored her second goal of the season, an extra-attacker goal from
Jeanna Dudley (SO, Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community HS). But 10 seconds after Dudley's goal, Haley Coolsaet (FY, Grosse Island, Mich.) clinched the win for the Cardinals with an unassisted goal.
Grace Edgar (SR, Plano, Texas/Plano West HS) collected 28 saves in goal for Augsburg, while Kaye Collier had 15 saves for St Mary's.
Both teams return to MIAC play next weekend, with Augsburg facing St. Olaf and St. Mary's facing St. Benedict.
