USA WRESTLING NORTHERN PLAINS REGIONAL SENIOR GRECO-ROMAN RESULTS

WATERLOO, Iowa -- Seven Augsburg College wrestlers competed at the USA Wrestling Northern Plains Regional tournament in the Senior Greco-Roman category last weekend, with
Niko Bogojevic (FY, Superior, Wis.) winning the 120-kilogram (264.5-pound) class.
By virtue of his win at the regional, Bogojevic will qualify to compete at the
USA Wrestling Senior World Team Trials, which will be held June 9-11 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Competing for the Minnesota Storm club, Bogojevic opened his tournament with a 7-0, 1-0 victory over Zak Wilcox (Maverick Wrestling Club), then beat Tyrell Fortune (NWRTC), a 2009 junior college national champion and recent Junior World Team member, 0-1, 1-0, 5-0 in the semifinals. He received a forfeit win over Minnesota Storm teammate Jake Kettler in the finals, as Kettler had already qualified to compete in the Senior World Team Trials.
Bogojevic won the USA Wrestling Junior Greco-Roman national title in 2009 (285 pounds), while also winning the FILA Cadet National Greco-Roman title (275 pounds) in 2008. This past April, Bogojevic finished third in the 120-kilogram class at the FILA Junior Nationals tournament in Cleveland. He will also compete at the
FILA Junior Greco-Roman World Team Trials this weekend in Franklin, Ind.
Three Auggies competed in the 84-kilogram (185-pound) class, with
Orlando Ponce (JR, Hialeah, Fla./Hialeah-Miami Lakes HS) going 1-2,
Jackson Mboma (JR, Maple Grove, Minn.) going 1-2 and
Tony Castro (FY, Hialeah, Minn./Hialeah-Miami Lakes HS) going 0-2.
In the 66-kilogram (145.5-pound) class,
Jake Saatzer (JR, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) went 0-2, as did
Mike Orange (SO, Southfield, Mich.). At 74 kilograms (163 pounds),
Tommy Teigen (FY, Ham Lake, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian HS) went 0-2.
