MEET RESULTS
NORTHFIELD, Minn. --
Micheale Tesema (SO, Burnsville, Minn.) ran one of the best races of his collegiate career to lead the Augsburg College men's cross country team to a strong showing at the St. Olaf College Inviational on Saturday. As a team, Augsburg finished in seventh place among the 14 teams competing at the event.
Tesema, who finished the 8,000-meter race with a time of 26:24, showed an improvement of almost two minutes in the same race last season. Tesema's time marks a career-best for him in an 8,000-meter race during his tenure at Augsburg.
Augsburg runner
Joe Arnold (SR, Grand Rapids, Minn.) had another strong showing for the Auggies, as he finished the race with a time of 27:13 to finish in 34th place. Arnold improved his time from last year's Ole Invite by almost 30 seconds.
Dakota Darkstar (SO, Minneapolis/Southwest HS) and
Brian Byrnes (JR, Marshall, Minn.) finished in 45th and 46th place respectively for Augsburg. Darkstar recorded a time of 27:29, while Byrnes finished just behind him with a time of 27:35. Darkstar's time is almost two minutes better than the time he recorded last year in the same race.
Daniel Gerber (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) rounded out the Augsburg top five, as he recorded a time of 27:55 to finish in 57th place.
Other Augsburg runners included
Hunter Melius (SO, Shakopee, Minn.) and
Jason Stevens (FY, Rochester, Minn./Century HS) who recorded times of 28:34 and 29:17, respectively.
The Auggies will return to action Friday, Sept. 30 at the University of Eau Claire-Blugold Open.
