Barthel leads Auggies at Border Battle

RESULTS

MINNEAPOLIS -- Courtney Barthel (FY, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) shot a collegiate-best 88 to lead the Augsburg College women's golf team at the Augsburg Border Battle Triangular meet, held on Tuesday afternoon at Hiawatha Golf Club.

Barthel bettered her previous season-best by five strokes, finishing seventh overall among the 24 golfers in the three-team meet. Augsburg finished third in the triangular with a season-best 378 total, behind Wisconsin-Stout (330) and Wisconsin-River Falls (359).

Jill Ferguson (JR, Batavia, Ill.) and Kelli Linton (FY, Keiter, Ore./McNary HS) tied for 14th overall with 96 totals, while Ashley Lindemann (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) shot 98 to place 16th and McKay Karl (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn.) shot 99 to tie for 17th.

Competing as individuals, Margaret Hughes (SO, Mendota Heights, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) shot 100, Emilee Howe (JR, Eden Prairie, Minn.) shot 102 and Nikki Johnson (JR, Upsala, Minn.) shot 151.

Augsburg returns to action on Saturday and Sunday (9/24-25) at the St. Benedict Fall Classic at Wapicada Country Club in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
