MIAC SOCCER ATHLETES OF WEEK

Peter Osborn
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College men's soccer midfielder Peter Osborn (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eastview HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.

Osborn played all 180 minutes in Augsburg's two 1-0 shutout wins over conference opponents Macalester and St. Thomas during the past week in the midfield, marking each team's top scoring threat, according to head coach Greg Holker.

Against Macalester on Wednesday, Osborn helped to contain the Scots' top scorer, Taylor Rasmussen, and also contributed one of Augsburg's 10 shots in the Auggies' 1-0 victory, a shot that hit the crossbar in the 72nd minute. Against St. Thomas on Saturday, Osborn was again successful against the Tommies' top scorer, Mike Hutton, while also contributing one of Augsburg's 19 shots in the game.

Osborn has been a leader of an Auggie squad that is 6-0-1 overall, off to its best start after seven games since starting 6-0-1 in the 2006 season. Augsburg has recorded three straight 1-0 shutout victories -- over Carroll (Wis.) on Sept. 18, Macalester last Wednesday and St. Thomas on Saturday -- and is 3-0-0 in MIAC play. Five of Augsburg's seven games have been shutouts (4-0-1), and Augsburg has outscored its opponents by a 14-2 margin so far this season.

Osborn has started all seven games this season, with one assist and six shots to his credit. He has played in 445 of the team's 650 minutes so far this season. In his career, he has appeared in 62 games (29 starts), with six career assists.

Augsburg hosts St. John's in a MIAC contest on Tuesday (9/27) at 7:30 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field.
