MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College men's soccer team has made its first appearance in the top 25 in a national poll this season, moving to the No. 23 spot in the latest D3soccer.com Division III national poll on Tuesday.

In the other major Division III poll, done by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Augsburg is the No. 5-ranked team in the North Region ranking, also out on Tuesday.

Augsburg is 6-0-1 overall, off to its best start after seven games since starting 6-0-1 in the 2006 season. Augsburg has recorded three straight 1-0 shutout victories -- over Carroll (Wis.) on Sept. 18, Macalester last Wednesday and St. Thomas on Saturday -- and is 3-0-0 in MIAC play. Five of Augsburg's seven games have been shutouts (4-0-1), and Augsburg has outscored its opponents by a 14-2 margin so far this season.

According to D3soccer.com, Augsburg is one of 18 Division III men's soccer teams that are still unbeaten (with ties), as of Monday.

The defending Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff champions, Augsburg hosts St. John's on Tuesday (9/27) at 7:30 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field.
