Golfers compete in two meets

AUGSBURG TWIN CITIES OPENER RESULTS


JANESVILLE, Wis. -- Zach Johnson (JR, Sartell, Minn.) shot a 3-over-par 74 to tie for ninth overall, leading the Augsburg College men's golf team in the rain-shortened Edgewood College Culver's Fall Classic on Friday at the Glen Erin Golf Club.

The tournament was scheduled for a two-day, 36-hole event, but was shortened to a single-day, 18-hole event due to rain on Saturday morning. As a team, Augsburg finished seventh in the 18-school, 19-team event with a 308 total.

Brian Deuel (SR, Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) finished in a tie for 16th overall for the Auggies with a 75 total, while Drew Bahl (FY, Preston, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) made his Auggie debut with a 78 total. Tim Herrmann (JR, Belle Plaine, Minn.) shot 81 and Justin Popp (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn.) shot 83 for the Auggies.

Augsburg's junior varsity competed at the Augsburg Twin Cities Opener meet on Saturday at the Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, Minn. Augsburg finished in a tie for fourth in the five-team meet with a 330 total.

Ryan Lundeen (FY, Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) and Cole Stoney (SO, Lancaster, Wis.) each shot 82 totals for the Auggies, while Silas Alberty (FY, Eagan, Minn.), Terry Gibbons (SR, Westlake, Ohio) and Tucker Williams (SR, Roseville, Minn.) each shot 83.

Augsburg hosts its annual Augsburg Fall Invitational next Saturday and Sunday (9/10-11) at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake.
