MIAC MEN'S HOCKEY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College forward
Trevor Doden (SR, Red Wing, Minn.) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Doden contributed four of Augsburg's eight goals in a weekend sweep of St. Mary's University, including his first collegiate hat-trick in
Saturday's 5-4 overtime win. Doden had the Auggies' second goal in
Friday's 3-2 win in Winona, and on Saturday, Doden scored the Auggies' last three goals, including an unassisted marker on the game-winner in overtime, as Augsburg rallied from a 3-1, second-period deficit to claim the win.
Doden now has a team-high 13 goals on the season, a total that is currently tied for the most goals
among MIAC players in overall statistics. He currently is ranked 18th
among Division III players nationally in goals-per-game (0.68). In his 95 career games as an Auggie, Doden has 36 goals and 30 assists for 66 career points.
The sweep of St. Mary's keeps Augsburg in the hunt for a spot in the five-team MIAC postseason playoffs for the fourth year in a row and fifth time in the last six seasons under head coach
Chris Brown. With six league games remaining, Augsburg has an 8-10-1 overall record, 4-5-1 in MIAC play for nine league points (two points for a league win, one for a tie). Augsburg is just one point out of fifth place and two points out of second place, as seven of the nine league teams are within two points of each other in the standings.
Augsburg faces St. Olaf this weekend, with Friday's (2/3) game at 7:05 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink, and Saturday's (2/4) game at 7:30 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
