Tesema 4th at Jim Drews Invite

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

LACROSSE, Wis.-- Micheale Tesema (JR, Burnsville, Minn.) ran a team-best time and finished in fourth place to lead the Augsburg College men's cross country team at the Jim Drews Invitational Saturday afternoon near the campus of the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. As a team, the Auggies finished in 21st place in the event, which featured a total of 28 teams in the field.

Tesema's time of 25:26 marked the third-fastest time among NCAA Division III participants in the field. Tesema has recorded a top-10 finish in all of the races he has competed in this season.

Other notable performances for Augsburg included Nate Rue (FY, Saint Paul, Minn./Como Park HS) who turned in a season best time of 27:57 to finish second for the Auggies. Brian Byrnes (SR, Marshall, Minn.) who clocked a time of 28:00 to finish third for the Augsburg team. Byrnes time marks a 25 second improvement from his performance at the Jim Drews Invite last season.

Luke Iverson (SO, Maple Grove, Minn.) also recorded a solid performance for the Auggies, as he finished with a time of 28:17, while teammate Ahmed Nur (SO, Edina, Minn.) finished with a time of 29:06.

Zach Richards (FY, Saginaw, Minn./Al Brook HS) rounded out the Augsburg top five, as he finished with a time of 29:28.

Eric Sanchez (SO, Burnsville, Minn.) also competed for Augsburg and finished with a time of 29:37.

This weekend's meet marks the final tune-up for the Auggies before the MIAC Championship Meet in two weeks (10/27) at the Como Park Golf Course in Saint Paul, Minn.
